Cardboard is made out of only paper and glue, which should make it an unlikely candidate for constructing furniture. Yet in recent years it has been used in a variety of construction. The Japanese architect Shigeru Ban has used paper tubes to construct permanent structures such as an art gallery and a church. Some designers have used a three-layered cardboard, called Tri-Wall to make chairs and other household furniture.
